Dr Pepper StarCenter

The Dr Pepper StarCenter used to be known as the Ice Training Center, and you may still hear locals refer to this place as the ITC. Whatever its name, the ice rink provides a lot of fun to visitors and locals alike, and is the ideal place to come for families or those who fancy an afternoon on the ice. There are two rinks here as well as a pro shop, and it can be a great experience to enjoy some Arctic cool in the middle of the Texas summer. You can also catch ice hockey tournaments here featuring the local team, the Dallas Stars. Since the Dallas Stars acquired the Dr Pepper StarCenter, Richardson (formerly known as Ice Training Center or ITC), the Dr Pepper StarCenter staff has worked tirelessly to gather the resources to turn DPSC Richardson into a community ice rink. “They can’t wait to get involved in the local community that surrounds our ice rink, and get more people participating in ice sports”, said Richardson General Manager, Kenny Carroll.

DPSC Richardson is proud to announce that they now offer public skating, open hockey sessions for youth and adult, birthday parties on the ice. Skating Academy and Hockey Academy will begin at the StarCenter on Feb 2nd, 2015. A coalition of ice arenas endorsed by the Dallas Stars, the Euless Dr Pepper StarCenter helps nurture athletes of all ages and skill levels with activities on or off the ice. The Dr Pepper StarCenter houses NHL-regulation ice-hockey rinks that host hockey leagues for players of all ages, eradicating the need to play on dangerous frozen lakes dotted with irritable frozen geese, and indeed very few of those can be found in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, if any. The StarCenter’s skate academy instills students with the fundamentals of ice hockey or figure skating, allowing them to progress to hockey leagues and local skating competitions if they choose. To warm up after laps around the ice rink, skaters can check out the onsite baseball stadium, batting cages, soccer fields, and Texas Star Golf Course.

The Dr Pepper StarCenter Farmers Branch was originally constructed in 2004. The renovations and improvements are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018. The 80,000-square-foot Dr. Pepper StarCenter Farmers Branch is being renovated the Dallas Stars and the City of Farmers Branch announced earlier this month. According to the Dallas Stars, the improvements will include upgrades to the exterior of the building, a refresh of the lobby and rink viewing areas, plus lighting and sound upgrades to both ice rinks.
